Beef and Guinness Stew Tempt Me to My Favourite Pub

posted on 17 August 2011

I love pubs. Wherever I travel around the world, I'm always looking for a good pub. On my recent trip to the UK, I was amazed at the wonderful pubs in the Peak District there, and it makes me want to go back there. As to closer to home - although I don’t live in Baltimore anymore, I always make it a point to stop at the James Joyce Irish Pub when I’m passing through the area. This was one of my favorite places to chill out either before or after a Ravens or Orioles game because it was just a little off the beaten track, although still convenient to downtown. The James Joyce Pub is a bit higher class than most pubs. You won’t find too many blue collar workers here because their prices are higher than most. But what you get is a great atmosphere and even greater food that you can wash down with a large selection of bottled and draught beer, including Guinness, Smithwick’s and Kilkenny. There are even seasonal specials and microbrews available. The clientele is a bit upper class, so don’t expect to find any barroom brawls. It won’t be happening at the James Joyce Pub. What you will find is a friendly, family-type atmosphere where you can feel comfortable taking a first date or a group from the office. I’m especially fond of one of their menu items – Beef and Guinness Stew, which I have every time I stop in, unless it’s earlier in the day, when I’ll order Irish Smoked Salmon Benedict. It is absolutely yummy. So why do I like this place so much? A combination of a good menu, comfortable atmosphere and knowing that I won’t find the unexpected when I walk in the door. It’s just a great place to enjoy good food, good drink and good company.

The Many Advantages of Convection Toaster Oven

posted on 10 May 2011

More and more households are using convection toaster oven for their cooking needs over traditional radiant oven because of the former’s many advantages, such as the following: • Unlike cooking with radiant heater where there is a tendency of creating hot and cold areas because of the stagnant heated air, the food in convection oven tends to be more evenly cooked as the heat circulates around the cooking space thus allowing the equal distribution of heat • The forced air created in convection oven significantly reduces the total cooking time and allows the retention of moisture on roasted foods • Since the heat is evenly distributed on the entire cooking space in this type of toaster oven, you don’t have to worry about half-cooked or burnt foods • Considering the cut in cooking time, substantial savings in energy is generated over a period of time and • Cakes and breads are cooked perfectly as it browns that exterior but leaves the interior part rich in moisture which is a bit difficult to accomplish using traditional ovens

My long time skills enables me to get employment.

After I lost my job due to poor performance, I was very desperate to get another employment, therefore I went from one company to the other looking for a vacancy. I was getting some unemployment benefits but they were not enough for my needs and those of my family as well, therefore I did all I can to ensure I got a job. Luckily enough, I landed in one company in town. They had a vacancy, but not for the type of job I was looking for. They were in need of a Corporate Caterer. Immediately I remembered how my aunt had taught me catering after high school, and I had helped her out for close to four months before I went to college. I even had a recommendation letter from her on the same. I told this to the human resource manager of that company. I showed him my papers concerning the same. He asked a few questions pertaining to catering and I was able to give a correct answer. I was hired on the spot.
