How technology has crippled communication in this current generation

I believe in communicating to people in a face to face basis. My kids say that I do this because I am an old school mother and I do not refute that. I do not like the habit of texting people round the clock and the chatting. I always asked myself what happened to the time where people would actually meet up and talk about things instead of texting short messages away. My kids are always doing that, and I observed them and noticed that it is not always a bad thing. This is because they will meet, talk or even watch a movie or have coffee and then when they got dropped home, they started chatting with the same friends. This is probably why they are very close and they know what goes on with each of their friends. They opened a Skype account for me because they were traveling and it was cheaper communicating via Skype. The first time I tried logging in I kept on typing in the wrong password and I realized that i forgot my skype name and password. I called them and they told me the name and the password. They even told me that I could send a request to my email and get the user name and password sent to me.
